The Yamaha Ray ZR 125 is a fuel-efficient scooter available in six variants and twelve colors. It is powered by a 125cc BS6 engine generating 8.04 bhp and 10.3 Nm torque. Equipped with front and rear drum brakes and a combined braking system, the scooter weighs 99 kg and has a 5.2-liter fuel tank capacity.
The 2023 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid has been launched with updates to meet the latest norms while retaining its predecessor’s design targeted at young buyers. Though the design remains similar, Yamaha Motor India has refreshed the color palette and graphics.
Mechanically, it retains the 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with fuel injection technology delivering 8bhp at 6,500rpm and 10.3Nm at 5,000rpm. The 2023 model benefits from an OBD-II sensor and is E-20 fuel compatible.
Styling remains aggressive, with the disc variants getting a new Dark Matte Blue color, while the Ray ZR Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid offers Matte Black and Light Grey Vermillion options. The feature list includes Bluetooth connectivity with the Y-Connect smartphone application, offering features like fuel consumption tracker, maintenance recommendations, and more.
The scooter also features the Intelligent Power Assist system utilizing the Smart Motor Generator (SMG) for additional thrust. Other features include Automatic Stop & Start system, side-stand engine cut-off function, and combined braking system.
Suspension comprises telescopic front forks and a rear spring, with drum brakes on the base model and a disc setup on premium variants. It rides on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tires.
Competing against the TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Avenis 125, and Honda Grazia, the Yamaha Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid offers a blend of style and performance in the Indian market.
